Website Redesign
Overview
Back in 2023, we decided to have a little fun: We held a contest to find the worst restaurant website in the universe, giving the winner a free, fully redesigned and developed website in return.
Well, we’re happy to say Village Pub and Beer Garden, right down the road from us in East Nashville, ended up winning!
When we first took a look at their website submission, a few pieces stood out to us. The site looked like it hadn’t been updated since the new millennium. Strike 1. Every image on the site (including the full photo gallery) was so small that you couldn’t actually see what was being shown. Strike 2. And when you clicked on the menu, you didn’t actually get to see the menu, just a couple of paragraphs of text instead. Strike 3.
Oh, and their footer even included an option to print the entire website…totally normal!
It’s safe to say that this website needed some love, especially since Village Pub is a beloved neighborhood joint in this community. So we started with a strategy phase to flesh out their goals, target audience, a competitive analysis of other neighborhood bars’ sites, and their brand voice and tone.
From there, our team gave them a revamped, fresh look that captures the vibe you can experience in the Pub itself: good people, good food, and good drinks.
The new site is built with the end-user in mind, featuring an updated food menu that actually shows what’s offered (specials and prices included!), high-quality photos of the Pub-goers and staff, a short and sweet FAQ list, and the location and hours clearly displayed. Plus, the custom WordPress back-end we created makes the site easy for their staff to update moving forward.
